    • The tool will search CoinGecko's database of thousands of cryptocurrencies
    • Results appear dynamically as you type
  4. Click on your desired token to select it

  • Token logos: Each cryptocurrency displays its official logo for easy identification
  • Full names: Both the symbol (e.g., "BTC") and full name (e.g., "Bitcoin") are shown
  • Live search: Searches across all cryptocurrencies available on CoinGecko
  • Cached results: Recently viewed tokens load instantly

How to select a date:

  1. Click on the Date input field
  2. A calendar picker will appear
  3. Select your desired date
  4. The tool prevents selecting future dates

Important notes:

  • You can only select dates up to today
  • Historical data availability depends on when the cryptocurrency was first listed
  • Older cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin have data going back to 2013

For more precise price lookups, you can specify the exact time of day.

Time input fields:

  • HH (Hours): Enter 0-23 (24-hour format)
  • MM (Minutes): Enter 0-59
  • SS (Seconds): Enter 0-59

Time behavior:

  • If you leave the time fields empty, the tool defaults to 00:00:00 (midnight)
  • All times are interpreted in your local timezone
  • The tool automatically detects your timezone using your browser settings

Example:

  • For 3:30 PM, enter: 15 hours, 30 minutes, 00 seconds
  • For 9:45:30 AM, enter: 09 hours, 45 minutes, 30 seconds

4. Selecting Your Currency

Choose which fiat currency you want to see the price in.

How to change currency:

  1. Look at the top-right corner of the page
  2. Click the currency selector dropdown
  3. Choose from available currencies:
    • USD (US Dollar)

  1. Click the "Get Price" button
  2. The tool will:
    • Fetch historical data from CoinGecko
    • Calculate the price at your specified time
    • Display the result below

What you'll see:

  • A large, prominent display of the price
  • The currency symbol (e.g., $, €, £)
  • The exact date and time you queried
  • An information icon with additional details

6. Understanding the Results

The result card shows comprehensive information about the price you looked up.

Main price display:

  • Shows the token symbol (e.g., "BTC")
  • The date you queried
  • The time you specified
  • The price formatted with two decimal places and thousands separators

Data accuracy indicator:

  • Info icon (ⓘ): Hover over or click this icon in the bottom-right of the result
  • Shows the actual data timestamp from CoinGecko
  • Explains the data granularity:
    • 5-minute granularity: For recent data (last few days)
    • Hourly granularity: For data from the past few weeks
    • Daily granularity: For older historical data

Why does granularity matter?

  • CoinGecko stores data at different intervals depending on how old it is
  • Recent data is more precise (every 5 minutes)
  • Older data is sampled less frequently
  • The tool tells you exactly how close the data point is to your requested time

Tips for Best Results

For Maximum Accuracy

  • Use recent dates (within the last week) for 5-minute precision
  • For older dates, understand that prices represent daily snapshots

For Tax and Accounting Purposes

  • Always note the data timestamp shown in the info tooltip
  • Take screenshots of results for your records
  • Consider the data granularity when making calculations

For Multiple Lookups

  • The search bar remembers recently viewed tokens
  • You can quickly switch currencies without re-entering date/time
  • Token logos are cached for faster loading
